Miami based synthpop outlet Monterrey is back with their moody dream-pop single “Come Home”. The track is the first release with the band’s new members: David Hidalgo, Aldo Canals and Renzo Zanatta who joined Roger del Pino last fall.
Laced in 80’s synth pop elements, “Come Home” permeates a room like a rising mist with its falsetto, hymn-like verses that blossom into soulful, punchy choruses that Monterrey has come to be known for. Lead vocalist, Roger Del Pino, channels feelings of yearning and isolation with his
moody, soulful vocals as he paints a cold and sleepless night. The track is the newest from the group since it’s 2018 sophomore EP, Elapse.
“Some of the inspiration behind Come Home were feelings of yearning and isolation due to my partner traveling for a long period of time last year. It’s only natural that the song’s title became “Come Home” after much of the lyrics were written out. I like to think the track isn’t only about the physical longing of a lover, but also about embracing insecurities within our day-to-day relationships. I wanted to write a Monterrey track that had darker undertones but still had groove. The vocals were also a different approach compared to other Monterrey tracks. I wanted to create a void within this isolated world I found myself in, but still give an uplifting mood in sections. While I hate to label my songs ‘nostalgic’, it always ends up being a big influence in my music I think. At the end of the day, we’re all inspired memories and the feelings they inspire within us.” – Roger del Pino
