HOMEWORK CLOSES MIAMI GALLERY RUN WITH ART CONVERSATION FEATURING ICA MIAMI’S ANDREW MCLEES

After a successful run during Miami Art Week, nomadic gallery homework is set to conclude its debut exhibition with an art discussion and closing party featuring a Miami art world heavy hitter. Andrew McLees, senior marketing manager at ICA Miami, will join homework founder Aurelio Aguiló for a panel discussion titled “100k Followers Can’t Be Wrong: The Influence of Experience Affecting Arts Ecosystems.” The two will tackle the event-driven nature of the contemporary art world and analyze how massive fairs, immersive exhibitions, and social media have come to dominate our perceptions of art, and how the little guys of the art world can stay afloat in an environment of high stakes, high fees, and high demand for attention. homework was founded with all of this in mind. Disillusioned by art world elitism, Aguiló and partner Mayra Mejia created the nomadic gallery concept as a way of democratizing art for all. Starting in Miami, they plan to tour homework worldwide, following the global art circuit and activating spaces in various cities. The current show, titled “v00001,” features an international group of primarily Latin artists, along with artisan-crafted prints, pottery, apparel, and other objects, some of which can be had for under $50. The homework closing event will take place on Friday, January 14, starting with the art conversation at 6 p.m. and continuing with the closing party at 8 p.m. RSVP for the art conversation here and the closing party here. homework v00001 Closing Event Friday, January 14 6 p.m. The Knoxon 7411 Biscayne Blvd, Miami FL 33138 FOLLOW homework INSTAGRAM | WEB | FACEBOOK TEXT: DOUGLAS MARKOWITZ IMAGE: BILLY CASIMIR
