LG Malique Finds Healing and Purpose With “Carved In Gold”

Emerging hip-hop voice LG Malique is back with Carved In Gold, an emotionally charged eight-track EP that marks a new chapter in both his career and life story. Drawing from a past shaped by violence, scarcity, and unwavering family support, the Arkansas-born rapper presents a collection that feels like both a reckoning and a rebirth.

Don’t Come Closer feels like a quiet tribute to his roots—his real identity beneath the flash of fame and money. Never Judge Ya adds yet another layer to his persona as he pens an open-hearted appeal for compassion and understanding in a world too quick to judge what it doesn’t see. Explaining How It Is, featuring Yungeen Ace, is a no-holds-barred anthem that sets the tone for everything that follows. “‘Explaining How It Is’ is raw, unfiltered truth, no sugarcoating,” says Malique. “Growing up in an environment where you always have to be ready changes you, and I’ve seen it happen too many times. Loyalty means everything, especially when it comes to family, and I’ve lost too much to play games. Even with success, I stay focused because I know how fast it can all disappear. This isn’t just music for me; it’s survival, therapy, and breaking the cycle.”

His passion for lyricism comes to the forefront in “More Than a Hobby,” a love letter to the art of creation and the life it has given him. But perhaps the most intimate track is “Make Ya Mama Proud,” a deeply moving ode to his mother and the timeless life advice she’s passed on.
