Miami's independent record shop and all-ages event space Sweat Records has survived 2020 and is celebrating its Sweat Sweet 16 the week of Mar 8-14 with very exciting announcements and activities. Earlier this week Sweat announced a call-to-action for record lovers to submit their "Sweaty Memories" for contribution to a forthcoming book and short film project. This includes photos, videos, and oral/text histories of memories they may have of the shop, and/or of the 800+ events Sweat has hosted over the years. You can submit HERE. In addition, Sweat Records is one of the small businesses chosen to participate in VANS' Foot The Bill campaign. Sweat have produced the design for a customized Vans Classic Slip-On and a t-shirt, and all proceeds (less production costs and shipping) will support much-needed store improvements the shop's post-pandemic efforts. Up to 1000 pairs of shoes and 250 tees are available for purchase, and customers may further customize the shoe’s design elements however they like via the Vans Customizer website. Sweat's design by renowned Miami-based artist Brian Butler is a 16th anniversary variation on the fan-favorite "Logo Sheet" design, also by Butler. It includes a few extra "lucky charms" that have helped the shop prosper over the years. Finally, during store hours from Friday, March 12th through Sunday, March 14th, Sweat will be offering 16% off everything in the store. Store capacity is 5 shoppers at a time, masks are mandatory, and customers will be offered locally-made sweet treats while browsing. Wish Sweat Records a Happy Birthday!
