The brothers of Mating Ritual have hooked us again with another hit, ‘The Name of Love’. Gearing up for the release of their highly anticipated album, Hot Content, Mating Ritual has been releasing singles off the record for the past couple months and is planning a SoCal residency in celebration. Their last jam, U.N.I. left fans replaying the song over and over again and now…they’ve given us another one.
A characteristic pop-synth landscape intros the tune while gritty vocals exude a melancholic mood. The ear-worm, distorted chorus increases in intensity overtime, rousing the dynamic into a head-bobbing rock ballad. The slow strut and cautious syncopation have us squinting our brows and singing along, realizing we too would likely give up anything in the name of love.
“The Name Of Love is about ending a relationship that you’ve stayed in longer than you probably should have. You don’t have to be happy 100% of the time, but when it seems like you’re not getting any days off, it might be time to move on.” – Mating Ritual
Many songs have been written in the name of love but these brothers are quickly becoming a hit-machine. Just like U.N.I., the chorus of ‘The Name Of Love’ roams around in your head long after its done playing and the lyrics are so relatable you might even question your own romances. Don’t worry: the duo definitely won’t inspire any break ups, but they will sing to you if it happens. You know where to go.
