Underneath the tree-broken sunlight or out on the corner begging for change, from the dark alleyways to the brightest of days, there is nowhere free of pain in some form or another in 2021. Self-imposed isolations aside, there’s a disconnect among humankind that has been impossible to ignore in recent years, and it’s at the center of the new music video for Griffith Frank’s “You’ll Be There” single this winter. Frank isn’t giving commentary or saccharine opinions about poverty and despair in “You’ll Be There;” he’s putting his heart into the music and sending it directly to those who need to feel something – anything, even – other than condemnation and angst right now.

The piano in this single would be one heck of a show-stealer were it not coupled with the powerful voice Frank is packing, and I think it’s worth noting that if another singer had taken on this composition in the same way, it probably wouldn’t be the stinging work it is in this scenario. When he pleads for someone to lift his spirits and connect with his soul in the chorus, I want to be there. The reflective sensation the climax of “You’ll Be There” produces is one that is so emotional and believable that I’m surprised it hasn’t already propelled this song onto the mainstream charts.
I think I can speak for the collective when I say that Griffith Frank has issued the first true blue tearjerker of 2021 in this incredible pop ballad, and if you haven’t already taken the opportunity to sample “You’ll Be There” for yourself, now is definitely the time to do so. This is a singer/songwriter of the purest intentions, and when I listen to his work I get a strong feeling that he’s only just begun showing us what he’s capable of in this brutally passionate new single.
