Prisma is the fourth studio album by Chilean band Spiral Vortex. The songs included in the record feature deconstructed sounds from Dream Pop, Pop Rock, and Psych Rock, blended with electronic and space beats. The record also serves as a reflective auditory synthesis to the natural landscapes and mountain places where the band was born.
Just like a prism has several parallel sides, this album has different producers, each of them with a unique style but sharing a common thread via the band’s defined sound, lead by the brothers Sebastian and Maximiliano Aylwin.
The firsts tracks were composed in 2018, during the band’s first Mexican tour, while working in a studio in CDMX with the Chilean producer Felipe Castro. The rest of the songs were produced by Andres Nusser (Astro Band) in Santiago de Chile.
The album was recorded in a relaxed environment, in different studios, and with the leading concept of mixing classic sounds with current indie rock. Due to the lockdown caused by COVID, the mastering became an introspective process, making it easier to work on the final details.
Prisma is a conceptual album, based on the belief that music is a consequence of the vibrational power of the soul. A translucid prism that reflects both personal and universal issues. A collection of songs that represents the spirit of the band in their 10-year career.

About Spiral Vortex
Coming from the Chilean countryside, Spiral Vortex have become one of the freshest live acts of Santiago’s underground scene. Starting as a Space Rock band in 2010, they have shifted through different genres, from Psychedelic Rock to Electro and Pop, mixing melodic passages and tribal beats, always maintaining their powerful energy on stage. The band formed by the brothers Sebastian and Maximiliano Aylwin is on a constant path of evolution and musical discovery.
In 2015 the band recorded “Geometry”, a single produced by Converse Rubber Tracks, the song helped the band gain notoriety, and soon after they became part of the national label Discos Rio Bueno, leading to playing their first international show in 2016 in Austin Texas at SXSW Festival. Spiral Vortex has independently released 4 albums, Spiral Vortex EP (2010), Maia (2012), Cimatica (2014), and AURA 6 (2016). Over the last years, they have played in the best venues in Chile and in big Festivals like Lollapalooza, Jardin Estereo, Fiss, and Fluvial Festival.
In 2018 the band traveled to Mexico where they went on a small tour around Mexico City and Xalapa. The band was very well received and recorded two tracks at Soga Recordings with Chilean Producer Felipe Castro. This marked the beginning of their latest album, PRISMA, released in November 2020 and a reflection of their search and exploration through music and energy.
