/The Hours Strange debuts with “Ain’t Love Grand?” EP
Pop Noir Electronica duo /The Hours Strange are is Miami based project captivating one by one the hearts of their audiences. Their mantra of ‘Love. Sex. Obsession. Absence. Art.’ is a rather accurate description of their music, lyrics, and presence.
Faithful to their penchant for narrative and storytelling, and mindful of their wide-ranging
influences, band members Charlie T and Jette Kelly traveled to Madrid, New York and Buenos Aires in order to assemble the album. /The Hours Strange reached out to Grammy Award winners Didi Gutman (Brazilian Girls, Bebel Gilberto), Tweety Gonzalez (Shakira, Gustavo Cerati) and Carlos Imperatori (Los Fabulosos Cadillacs) to collaborate on the EP. Works to complete Ain’t Love Grand took well over a year, but the results speak for themselves.
Jette’s long singing and performing career combines with her kaleidoscopic range to produce a sultry eloquence, sometimes compared to St. Vincent or Beth Gibbons (Here at Too Much Love we consider Jette’s voice to be the vocal comparison to Jessica Rabbit’s sensual eyes, full of promises that seem slightly too good to be real). When anchored on Charlie’s deep bass grooves and 90’s British influences, the result becomes harder to pin down to a genre- but easier to embrace musically.
To cap it off, they add influences from Argentinean tango, lounge music, cabaret, and pretty much anything that involves low lights, strong drink and dark promises. (We are obliged to tell our readers that, as far as we know, Jette Kelly is not the devil. But we will let you form your own opinion, it’s a free country).
