Hosted by North Miami’s Museum of Contemporary Art, Jean Almatas (AKA “Pokito”) will be playing a live set this Friday. Self-taught, Pokito was born in Haiti where he began his musical exploration into konpa and racine styles. Inspired by many different facets of his musical experience, Pokito calls his music “Rootsy Juicy.” Putting his band (Jean P Jam) together in 2002 he began introducing his original world beat style called “Deep Roots” to the world. The event begins tomorrow at 8 pm and is free with an RSVP.
